We call it “Marking Time” — recording the documents, memories, buildings and everyday traces that help tell the story of the Wychwoods.
MARKING TIME
History can begin in an attic box
Do you have original documents tucked away in files, drawers or attic storage boxes? Have you ever wondered about the history of your house, street or family?
A little research can uncover stories that might otherwise disappear. We welcome contributions from anyone who would like to investigate, record and share what they find.
An important part of the Society’s purpose is not simply to learn about history, but to help preserve it. Over the years, members and contributors have produced research that has been published in our journals and retained for future generations.
WHAT MIGHT YOU FIND?
Small discoveries can tell big stories
Contributions can range from detailed research into ancient documents and wills to just a few sentences about a piece of local ephemera.
An old council house rule book, an invitation discovered beneath a floorboard, a Victorian tradesman’s account book, old letters or postcards can all reveal something about everyday life in the Wychwoods.
The important thing is that the story is recorded.

Please note: The WLHS is a non-profit-making society serving the local community. Unless otherwise directed, photographs and documents submitted to the Society are preserved in its archives and may be reproduced for non-profit purposes such as magazine articles, research and papers.
